The Royal Ulster Academy’s 127th Annual Exhibition will take place from 19 September to 19 October 2008 in The Former Drawings Offices of Harland and Wolff Shipyard, Belfast. These are the offices where the Titanic was conceived and designed. We are delighted to have such a prestigious and historic venue for the 2008 Exhibition which once again will be sponsored by KPMG, the leading Accounting and Professional Advisory firm.
Last year’s Exhibition exceeded the success of the previous year in terms of entry levels and sales. We exhibited almost 300 works from all over Ireland and these were adjudicated by Patrick J. Murphy, Art Advisor to the Office of Public Works.
This year, we are delighted to announce that the Adjudication will be by Catherine Marshall , Visual Arts Touring and Collection Advisor to the Arts Council Ireland, on secondment from the Collections Department of IMMA. Our guest selectors are Dr. Suzanne Lyle, Arts Council Northern Ireland and Daniel Clark, of Ross's Auctions Belfast. Together with President Rita Duffy and Academicians Graham Gingles and Victor Sloan MBE, they will view and select from the submitted works.
The deadline for receipt of entry forms for this year is 1 August 2008. The hand-in day for Dublin (IMMA car park) is 9 August 2008 and for Belfast, again 9 August 2008 at the Former Drawing Offices of Harland and Wolff Shipyard.
This year we will again offer a significant number of awards in a range of categories, which will include the KPMG Award for an Emerging Artist.
We hope you will consider entering your work, as last year works accepted from open submission represented almost 60% of the exhibition. If you have any queries, please contact the Exhibition Administrator at 0044(0)28 90320819 or visit the FAQ section of the website.
