War on Want

RUA members and regular exhibitors provided artwork for War on Want’s Art Aid Auction organised by Eamon Quinn from War on Want NI and former RUA President, Rita Duffy.

The auction which was held on the 29th April raised £30,000 to support War on Want NI’s activities in Malawi, Uganda and Tanzania. Roughly 150 people attended and 30 works were sold. Contributing artists included Gary Devon, Ivor Coburn, Rita Duffy, Clement McAleer, Jack Pakenham, Colin Davidson, Neil Shawcross, Ros Harvey, Rosie McGurran, TP Flanagan
Carol Graham, Victor Sloan and Basil Blackshaw, among others.

Funds raised will support projects that provide care and education for children orphaned by AIDS, enable food production for vulnerable people such as the elderly, provide resources for people living with disabilities and promote health education.
